HI ALL!! .. Gary Crow time to retire
" He don't know if it's right or wrong, maybe he should tell someone, he's not sure just what it is, or if it's against the law, something very strange I hear you say, your talking in a most peculiar way, but something really threw me, .. he don't know just where it's gone, he don't really care at all, no one's sure just what it is, or the meaning and the cause " Well I have a little soap boxing to do. I have been listening to the disc jockey Gary Crow for a VERY long time. I think from some where in the mid-70's. It has been a journey to several different stations as well. When I got back to Seattle I found him again and have been listening since about 1993 steady. His shows are usually filled with some humor, fun comments, rock and roll knowledge and tidbits, and LOTS of classic rock music. He does a great job of varying the music and will play one hit wonders ans well as the solid war horses from the mid 60's forward. Well the last several months he has NOT had the kind of show I am a custom to. Finally last week I hit my limit. He came on the radio and stated that Marshawn Lynch had been fined $100,000 by the NFL for not wearing an 'approved' hat during his media day interviews. WHAT?? I had JUST read an article on ESPN.com that stated the NFL was 'reviewing' it and would decide AFTER the Super Bowl if any fine was appropriate. Then I hear yesterday that the NFL has decided NOT to fine Lynch, he was wearing a hat that had team colors on it, AND it was made by an approved NFL affiliate.I know that one item is not enough, but it was the proverbial 'straw' that finally pushed me over the limit. Since Crow came back to work after his back surgery I have thought his show was lacking the vibe and charm that he had used for so many years before. I thought that I would give him some time to get back in the swing. I know surgeries can really drain someone, and he was off for a long time afterwards. But his shows just never got back to normal. I don't know anything about the surgery or recovery, but I can tell there is a BIG difference in his performance. Maybe it is time to hang up the mic, put away the albums and enjoy the 'golden' years. He has truly been an icon in Seattle radio, but if he continues at his current pace he will tarnish that star. I have even gone to the point where I am now listening to Pirate Radio 13 on the inter web. They play enough classic rock to keep me, but without the tidbits and knowledge being dispersed. I guess for now that will have to do. Thanks for ALL the enjoyable listening times Crow. You tool me from home to work SOOOOOO many times, and managed to make the trip much more pleasant than normal. For that I am eternally grateful!! I just feel now is the time to sign off. On other notes not much happening, eBay continues to be slow, staying inside and dodging the wind and rain. I even watched today as one of my trees on the back '40' got blown down by the wind gust. WOW!! kind of surreal. CHOW MOI!!
